I've been thinking: To a large degree, #FOSS is developed by volunteers.Ideally, a functional society would support FOSS developers financially so that they could focus more of their energy into FOSS development. But how would you organize this? How would you determine who gets financial support?(Yes, UBI would be an option, but that would require a far greater political and cultural shift than supporting FOSS supporters in particular.)

@pheonix sometimes, when I'm driving, my kiddo logs into my work phone to see what an alert was about. They always complain that my password is misspelled. I just smile and shrug. Long and simple, but just a little weird.

@pheonix the experience of getting a "recommendation" from a system that is wildly off the mark is so common that everyone, not just people like us who are deliberately living so as to be illegible to capital, understands this mismatch intimately. it's an illusion. the world of for profit digital advertising and surveillance is built on a colossal lie about how humanity works.

@SaltyMonk My wishful thinking about the process would be this:1. The software generates text output based on my speech.2. I manually correct the errors.3. I feed the correction back into the system and the model trains with them.4. The software generates new output based on a new speech, but hopefully with fewer errors.5. Goto 2.
