I was thinking of doing an actual megadungeon #dungeon26 but I'm still not sure. I've been reading #Stonehell and playing #ArdenVul recently which has made me think of megadungeons. The theory is that it will make the "blank days" easier by letting me fill in corners but I dunno if that's realistic.
The rest of my Dungeon23
After a long pause I've finally uploaded the remaining scans of my #dungeon23 project. I'm free! It's all on the internet now!

It's 90% Telegraph, LBC, and some of the Times, all endless stories about immigrants and trans people. There were a few interesting stories from other publishers, and you can block some people or "show me less of this", but if I wanted to spend hours every week curating a news feed I could just go to the news sources that I wanted.
You can't cancel the free trial without immediately dropping it but that's fine.

#TTRPG #TTRPGs #TTRPGSky The more I play #Daggerheart & the less I play D&D the more I treat the world, especially the small parts of the world like villages and settlements, like post-capitalist, barter & skill/trade-share economies.@tezrak.bsky.social I did this in a PF2 game set in the middle of the forest. "Nobody really uses money here and they're not interested in yours, no there aren't any shops and there's no inn, but they will be hospitable to travellers if you're not an arsehole". Some PCs got rewarded with custom-dyed clothing for helping out.

I expect I'm overthinking it.
Flux Spaces are described here btw https://www.paperspencils.com/flux-space/ and in Knock #5. One issue I'm having is that I want to run the procedure straight for the first time but only very weird cities would have 4h "exploration turns", or ones with very hard-to-find destinations.

I'm very much up for a return to the 80s where anyone waving a flag was at best thought an out-of-touch retired colonel and generally just a racist.

As far as I'm concerned I am well into the dystopia where my close connections are limited to robot pets, so I might as well have a robot pet as opposed to nothing at all. Also it doesn't have 5G or any other mechanism to spy on me as far as I can tell.

No AC, weapons, armour, combat spells (including the "non-lethal weapon" ones, sorry no Sleep). A lot of OSE is stuff like travel rules.
I did leave weapon-like tools and protective clothing, but there are no rules for fighting with them.
Adventures might be more significant in terms of exploring this thought experiment - they more specifically indicate what the game might look like with no fights.

I did start writing up that zero combat #osr version I was talking about but think I may do it in B/X now, as the entire OSE SRD is available in #obsidian ready markdown https://github.com/Obsidian-TTRPG-Community/Old-School-Essentials-Markdown - still..."Fighters are adventurers who are defined by nothing more than their persistent struggle against fate. With no special abilities apart from their toughness, in a group of adventurers they may be overshadowed by other classes, and so it is recommended they be treated as a challenge class, for players who relish trying to make their way through adventures with little more than their wits to help them."

Fighter is still going to be in there but as more of a challenge class. They do still get more HP I suppose.

One is not properly #osr until one has written a hack of some rubbish old version of D&D to "fix" it, so I decided that mine would be a hack of white box with no combat. One is not properly #osr until one has written a hack of some rubbish old version of D&D to "fix" it, so I decided that mine would be a hack of white box with no combat. Not just some alternative method of resolving fights but literally never mentioning combat at all, any more than it mentions cheese making (actually much more likely that will do a cheese making subgame).
I like all the exploration and adventuring stuff but am bored of the combat bits. So no combat.

I'm just running the adventures in the book - they are pretty "straight" but I always weird everything up without meaning to anyway.
Generally response has been good. One player even said he had a lot of hope for the system already. People _like_ the heroic fantasy #ttrpg thing, it's just nitpicking complexity and pointless choices they tend not to like, and Nimble is good at getting rid of those.

- it has one at all; many RPGs don't even come with an adventure, or maybe just a tiny one;
- it's designed to teach someone new to sandbox play how to do that. The setting is made up of hooks and there are several short adventures if players expressed an interest in an area - both usable and also examples. If you've only read 1-20 campaigns you would have no examples of writing for your own game. -
Surprisingly impressed by the #Nimble #ttrpg in its second edition.Surprisingly impressed by the #NimbleRPG in its second edition. I originally wrote off the first as just a #dnd5e hack, but this pulls together a lot of #PF2e as well as other games plus its own special sauce. It does seem like it would work as advertised ie quickly and slickly, and it's written with a lot of energy (reminded me of Black Hack 2e).
Tragically it may fall by the wayside what with Daggerheart and Draw Steel coming out but so far I prefer it to either.

I'm working on a magazine piece about how -- and if -- AI coding tools are altering the work of software development@clive I find they have the same issue as voice interfaces but worse - you can't rely on them and so checking and correcting the results takes more time than just writing it yourself, increasing hugely the more complex the thing you ask for. Generating large quantities of boilerplate so you don't have to is why we have frameworks already. So basically I (senior dev btw) do not use them at all apart from the IDE autocompletes that I can't be arsed turning off.

I don't know if I mentioned it but we put the #Grimwild game on hold.I don't know if I mentioned it but we put the #Grimwild game on hold. While I like a lot of things about it, in the end the basic action structure wasn't gelling with players, particularly in combat ("you aren't rolling to do a specific thing, you're rolling to achieve a goal"). Also it feels like a collaborative approach to consequences and world building is part of what makes the game work, and that part wasn't popular.
Not knocking Grimwild, we enjoyed it and I saved loads of prep time.
