Humans are funny. They're like the ultimate invasive species, modifying themselves and their environment in myriad ways almost without thinking about it, but then they decide THAT one isn't allowed.

They will invent a cure for the most horrifying disease you can imagine and they say THAT person can't have it because they don't have enough green pieces of paper or a number on a hard drive somewhere is wrong.

@timberwraith My favorite thing about Democrats is how they have no (honest) policy or moral positions so "evil love child of Trump and Biden" is somehow acceptable.

@timberwraith Plus he looks like an Indiana Jones villain.

It's almost inevitable at this point that ICE will shoot children, on camera, unapologetically, especially with Bovino referring to them as human "shields" against "immigration enforcement."

Because we all know how much Americans and Israelis respect human shields.

@timberwraith It's nap time for him, I think, now he's confident I'm not going anywhere.

Kal is kinda miserable with the cold but I'm just sitting here in tights and leg warmers. LOL.

And a hoodie, I guess, but with a t-shirt. I got hot in my sweater yesterday.

@timberwraith Well, his feet are warm now. Off he goes to find a cozier spot.

@timberwraith It's only like 21F here but I've been acting anxious and in pain so he's trying to take care of me (and making sure I can't leave).

@timberwraith There was a while after we moved in where he slept under the blankets with me! For the most part, he comes and goes throughout the night. I'll wake up to him on my hip or stomach. He'll warm his feets and then go back to his nightly business.

During the day, he mostly begs for my chair or walks across me to reach his bed.

@timberwraith He rarely does this, and only with a pillow platform because my lap isn't wide or stable enough for him, apparently.

Ollie says it's cold enough for lap cat mode.

I'm just a little bitter about this because I know from experience that 90% of an executive or lawyer's job is done by their assistants but the executives / lawyers still take 90% of the money.

They're like Homer Simpson in that episode where thinks he's become three times more efficient by typing "Y" instead of "yes" in response to a prompt.

The main reason executives think "AI" is so amazing is because they only talk to other executives and their jobs really are that easy to automate.

"AI" is a class and culture war.

Executives think it saves them so much time and makes everyone else 1000% more productive.

Employees complain it isn't useful and gets in the way and they constantly have to go back and fix things.

Only the first group is confused why it isn't more profitable, but theirs is the only opinion that matters so...

Basically, whenever science says "hey, these are human beings and you should stop genociding them," a bunch of people will turn on a dime and decide fascism is preferable to the enlightenment liberalism they professed to believe in.

It's a lot like how it was in the 1930s.

As soon as this research started to be done and proved to be in our favor, cis-het society recoiled and decided that science itself was illegitimate.

Every argument deployed against trans people today, even by supposedly educated people, boils down to some variation of "god's will" and "queer people are freaks of nature."

Some people will make common cause with the actual historical Nazis rather than leave others alone.

I won't discuss the merits of such research as no justification is required but isn't it interesting how you don't hear about brain imaging studies anymore?

Because in the aggregate, they overwhelmingly supported trans identities.

This kind of research was happening all over the place not too long ago. They were constantly in the news.

Now? Not so much.

The few studies I've seen recently suggest that HRT actually makes trans brains even more closely resemble those of their gender.

For both trans and intersex people, categories which can and sometimes do overlap, what some doctor decided when they glanced at your genitals after you were born decides basically your entire life. And the entire culture loses its shit when you suggest that's stupid.

Cis people talk out of both sides of their mouth when it comes to gender and gender affirming care.

They will say gender is innate and biological in order to deny a trans kid treatment. But they'll say gender is socialized, not innate or biological, in order to justify doing surgeries on intersex infants. It's fine! Those kids will never notice! And when an intersex person insists the doctors were wrong and tries to undo the damage, they often aren't allowed either.
