I reposted a (German) blog post I wrote as an introduction to the Fediverse, for newbies and interested people. However, in my wider social media bubble, most people prefer Instagram, Bluesky and Threads, because of the old and often mentioned point of "everybody is over there". -
It is January 31st 2026. What have you done this month to recruit others to the #Fediverse?
@juergen_hubert I wrote https://stefanbohacek.com/blog/fediverse-an-overview-for-community-organizers/ and know of at least one person who forwarded it to a community organizer.
I've been engaging positively with folks on Bluesky, trying to see what are some common issues people come across when trying to use various fediverse platforms. (As a result of one such conversation, I just opened https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/issues/37690.)
On that note, here's a PSA to folks who evangelize the fediverse aggressively and get into fights about it: Don't. You're doing the rest of us a huge disservice.
And I also fixed a language-detection bug on https://jointhefediverse.net. If that counts!

@juergen_hubert I did try to get your account, specifically, a couple more followers, but they were too bound to Bluesky and Facebook, respectively, so I directed them to sunkencastles.com instead.

I do use bridgy.fed, for whatever that's worth, so Bluesky users have that as an option. But thanks!
