    Even though I already have the original volumes, I’m excited to get this hardcover version of Season of Ghosts. Particularly because two of my friends have cover credits.

    @deinol That AP sounds interesting, I'm going to have to look it up!

    It's too bad that most APs are dungeon crawls.

      Are they? I thought most 2e APs weren't. I only have a couple of them, though, and haven't actually run them.

        @Kichae @deinol My impression- which is just an impression - is that most are crawls, but there are exceptions.

        There were a couple that sounded good to me but when I asked, the company/writer confirmed that it was in fact mostly another crawl.

        I think they're just much, much easier to make.

          @croyle @Kichae

          Crawls are definitely easier. I’ll take a look tonight and see how much dungeon there is, but it’s mostly fixing the haunting of your village. From what I understand, it’s been a while since I skimmed it.

            @deinol @Kichae I'll check online to see what people say too, but it sounds positive. These days most of my group prefers roleplay/investigation/etc. to endless crawls. And even the non-crawl APs usually have plenty of combat.

              @croyle @Kichae

              I would almost certainly cut down on the number of encounters of anything I’d run. But I mostly mine these for interesting ideas and even when I pull a dungeon, I’ll strip it down to 3-4 fun looking encounters.

              I don’t see many dungeon maps in this, biggest sites seem to be “purge this mansion of ghosts” and “purge this fort of ghosts”. It does look to be one of the more investigative APs I’ve seen.

                @deinol @Kichae Excellent!

                And yea, I've pared down the crawls in past APs that I used. And I should have trimmed them even more. 🙂

                  @croyle i'm running this AP right now and can confirm it's not a dungeon crawl. it takes place over a whole year and has around 1 dungeon per season. and all "dungeons" are mostly inhabited by sapient creatures who you can talk to and negotiate with.
                  if anything, it's a downtime crawl! (if that is even a thing xD) you play through large parts of the year on a week by week basis.

                  if you want an AP that's RP-heavy: this is a good one!

                    @risa Noted, thanks! I'll plan to pick it up, although I'm still only on the 2nd chapter of my current AP, so it will be a good while.

                      @risa Oops, I just checked and it looks like it's in a Chinese setting. That might be problematic with one of my players, because of reasons...... But I'll dig into it some more as the reviews look good.

                        @croyle it's not directly a chinese setting, but more an east asian one. (so korea, japan and china)
                        but tbh most monsters are from japanese mythology. meanwhile most npcs in town have names inspired by korean or chinese.

                        dunno if that changes much tho ^^

                          @risa Hopefully that's enough! My one player is very into Chinese culture etc. and I'd go absolutely insane if he was trying to correct me repeatedly, or if he went on about it constantly. But I may risk it anyway... 😅 I have the rest of my current campaign and more to think it over.

                            @croyle good luck! luckily, this is a fantasy setting, inspired by various east asian cultures, and is not an accurate historical chinese setting. there should hopefully not be any correcting, because it's not the exact thing.

                              @risa Agreed. Hopefully! Especially if I present it from the Japanese angle more than Chinese, or eliminate the asian angle entirely. I'd only do so because the player in question can irritate me faster than almost anyone else on earth, because we've known each other for so long. 😂 One correction or long anecdote from him and I'd want to set fire to the books lol.

                                @croyle oh wow, extra good luck then. rewriting the whole thing to be non-asian would require a lot of work and be kinda difficult.
                                in that case i might actually recommend a whole other AP, like Strength of Thousands, which is also much not a dungeon crawl and has plenty of RP potential ^^
