Yeah I gotta say Critters 2 remains the high watermark of this venerable series in my eyes. 3 Just doesn't have the thematic consistency or emotional weight, I'm sorry. Clearly we have lost our auteur, and with him, our golden age. Where now shall we turn for truly classic cinema now?

Thinking about @moira 's list of improvements for Critters 3 (over here: https://mastodon.murkworks.net/@moira/115483660835128015) and yeah, I agree with all of that.

Like, it should still have been about the kids of a recent widower, but the dad should've been more of an aggressive job climber instead of just having a job that forces him to be away a lot, and he should've gotten more scenes with Chett Landlordville the 3rd. Especially a scene near the climax where Dad looks at Chett and goes, "Oh christ, i'm literally THIS GUY D:"

Also more than three Critter puppets would've been nice.
