I thought my use of fake to characterize climate change might be misinterpreted, but I couldn’t see a way to succinctly indicate that I wasn’t really aiming for sarcasm, nor that I believe it’s real. I’m sorry that it wasn’t very clear that I was just saying those who support fossil fuel energy production often also believe that climate change is fake. I really believe that fossil fuels are making the world a harder place for humans to inhabit and that we should refocus our energy acquisition systems onclean and renewable energy because the US recently rescinded or stopped all support of clean energy. I see an opportunity for Canada to provide energy to USA. I believe that without those additional energy sources, they will lack enough energy to power their economy to the place where they want to be i.e. in control of Crypto and AI. Having the exportable energy to meet those needs will give Canada important leverage to prevent international conflict over energy. Even though, or perhaps because, I’m old enough to remember what things were like when I was a child and a young adult. When I compare the climate I experience now to how I remember it then, it is clear to me that climate is definitely changing and warming. So I’m not completely bug-fuck crazy. I think.

I am Metis actually and a veteran. Everyone is talking about bigotry but automatically assumed I’m a white male conservative as if that matters or something. This social justice mind video game is ridiculous. These people aren’t heroes. I know real heroes and they wouldn’t behave this way.

Yes there is, especially given how vulnerable it will be to Trump messing with the border, and how it could theoretically carry on with a bit of help. That being said, relative to the amount it generates for the economy it does seem to have extra political pull, like OP said. Maybe because people prize manufacturing over services or natural resources. I’ve never once heard the auto industry being a factor in western alienation. And I’ve written papers on the subject. Well, let me be a primary source for you: More than once, the auto industry has come up IRL in rural Alberta, and someone’s said “that’s an Ontario industry so the federal government cares about it”. That’s not necessarily part of the historical origin of the alienation - if you’ve written papers you’ll actually know more about that than me - but it’s definitely folded in now. Does Nord track users? As far as I know they have a strict no-logging policy which has been independently audited each year including this year. On this basis I have been using them. Can you point me towards a source for privacy issues with Nord? If they are really tracking users I will want to look elsewhere.

Outside of major roads (the proposal sounds like it allows strip-mall-type businesses facing onto major roads), the limits are on square footage, traffic, hours, and compliance with residential noise and similar restrictions. Mcdonald’s probably wants to be open at 1am and have two lanes of drive-thru, but if some franchisee thinks they can make a go of it with a day-hour-only, walk-up-only store, I say let them try.

I don’t think that would stop tRump from trUmping. If anything, he’ll use that to further his lie that Canada’s a nasty country to deal with.
