Centering "hackers" means helping let those responsible for the horrendous negligence at Tea off the hook.
There is no "hack", only other people's negligence.
@wariat well @stux did say Fediverse, and I am going to be adamant that threads-dot-net do not fit the definition of Fediverse even if it federates with some instances. Just as Gab does not fit that definition even though it supports ActivityPub.
Fediverse is not defined by a protocol, but by a shared set of ideas and values. Nothing that is controlled by Meta can be a part of it, regardless of what technical features it happens to implement.
