I'm not a person to whine about canon, but I do look to the reasons why it is changed. The story of #DnD 5e after a decade of observing its creative choices is a game that abandoned its weird and wild heart for worlds anyone could understand on a glance. I get it, but I don't think I respect it.
I would encourage folks to look back to when the modules were weird and daring. When you sailed in Phlogiston and met grey aliens. It was such a burst of creativity.
