After a workshop at the public library yesterday, the presenter mentioned he'd quit Twitter and was trying out Bluesky, but he couldn't really get into it. I asked if he'd considered Mastodon. He's heard of it, but not looked at it yet.
I suggested he give it a look. "The biggest problem most people have is choosing an instance," I said. He asked what an instance is. I gave a brief explanation, while writing on a piece of paper:
