Rationalism isn't a damn superpower. It's a tool. Making it the only tool is how the French created the Reign of Terror. Hell, a thousand massacres, war crimes and genocides started with weak ass men "thinking about it rationally".
Rationalism causes harm, just as easily as emotions. Especially when either are used as cover for the actual bigotries or ignorance the decisions are really being made with.

I've seen protest signs and comments to the effect of 'cops aren't supposed to kill criminals either' and I think it's a way to make people consider the how's and why's of Good's death. What if it wasn't recorded, if she didn't appear to be white, or whatever factors.
Some ~might~ be self defense, but after tens of thousands of deaths per year by cops, for decades now - for corruption, racism, misogyny, negligence, or just anger.
We've "accepted" our way into creating a cult of violence.

Every death at the hands of cops is murder, we've just been forced to view it as acceptable. I don't mean that in a callous way, but in a way that lets people redefine "in the line of duty" or "cop related shooting" and "active shooter event involving police" the next time someone sees it.
This was an outrage, but this is also normal operations for cops.
There is a special and unique kind of frustration when you think up a plot for a campaign (for a #ttrpg ) that is 100% interesting to you and you fucking remember you don't have a gaming group anymore! [shakes fist at sky]
