@stux I'll also add my maternal granddad was a surgeon during WW1.. after the war he gave up being a surgeon for being a doctor with.."I've seen enough blood and guts to last a few lifetimes" Paternal GD was infantry in Africa and a great uncle died.
My dad flew Hurricans and then Typhoons, even mentioned in a "typhoon book" while my mum was a nurse..
So I got a lot more than skool taught me, although none wanted to talk too much about the horrors of war.
@stux There's a good story you might not have heard.
Just recently he was on vacation here in the UK. He booked into a restaurant, the staff told mangment they'd not work and so he was refused the booking. Incidently had had Kamala Harris a few months before hand and she was warmly welcomed.
That's how we do it over here.. he and his boss are despised.

Like we look back on history and times when raw meat etc was eaten thinking how did they survive, no clothes, no fires, no toilets (hmm thinking of you russia) etc..
They'll be laughing about needing a body.

@stux For both my parents we had a celebration of life or a humanist funeral and just recently I attended the last of a special group of their freinds.. again another humanist celebration of their life, then food, wine and chat with those we only see at these events..
More 4 funerals and no weddings than "4 weddings and a funeral" at our age..
