There was a fucked up synergy between their decks and my ante decks, too.

Their decks ran real lean, in order to make sure they could get their hands on the killer cards. And a lot of the time they would spend Turns 1 and 2 setting up their big one-hit-kill attacks, usually by moving the cards they'd need next round to their hand or to the top of their deck using their deck management cards.

BUT

Most of the ante cards target one of two locations - your hand and the top of your deck. Even if the ante didn't pull their expensive cards, it could still be used to essentially banish structural cards that they absolutely needed to pull off their strategy

@CactuarJoe @wizardponderingorb I started playing MtG back in the Beta/Dark era and I absolutely loved it, but the rich kids fucked everything up.

Main issue was that there were a bunch of us filthy casual poors that enjoyed playing the game for the tactical "what fucked up combos and synergies can I pull" but we kept getting challenged to battles by rich kids that had spent a fortune of their parent's money on cards that let them win in 1-2 turns.

So I made a second deck, explicitly for fighting them, a pretty standard Black/Red/Green build with the usual suspects - a ton of land, some easy to get 1/1 creatures, a couple of important Artifacts, and X cards like Howl From Beyond. BUT... I also filled the deck with Ante-based cards, like my beloved Demonic Attorney.

@CactuarJoe @seekingfreedom "Smart Home Arena" sounds like Battlebots but with houses... and if it was that, I would 1000% be there to watch it.

@CactuarJoe I wonder how many people are just employed, currently, to keep putting their thumb on the scale of Grok to make sure that it doesn't ark towards any form of morality or decency they don't agree with.

@CactuarJoe I haven't played it yet, but suspected something was very very wrong when it was offered up almost immediately as a Playstion Plus game of the month. It's a shame, Inquisition was one of my favorite games from that era, it's the thing that made me finally upgrade from a PS3 to a PS4.

And before you ask, I was down bad for Scout Harding, denied all other attempts to woo me romantically, and believe the canonical ending is the one where she's with you by the DLC

The massive boat that nearly missed some random guy's house in Norway is still stuck. And I'd seen pictures from the side where it was clear that it was CLOSE to his house, but I had not seen this one before and it really sells exactly how close it is.

So, just remember, no matter how bad you fuck up things today, you have not fucked them up as hard as this boat captain did.

@trixter @CactuarJoe I have two smart TVs that are set to dumb mode, and then to add insult to injury, I have both of them connected to shitty $20 Onn Google TV boxes from Walmart.

@CactuarJoe I got a far-larger-than-I-intended "smart" tv from BestBuy not that long ago, they have crazy stupid sales all the times.

The ones that come with Amazon baked in have a "dumb tv" mode you can choose during setup that tells it not to use any of the smart tv functions, and as long as you never connect it to Wifi it won't be able to report anything back to Bezos.
