Here I was all motivated to go shovel the driveway -- and then I realized it is currently 2 deg F outside and with the wind chill it feels like -15.
And just as it gets up to 13deg this afternoon, it is supposed to snow some more. 
What, I ask you, is the point...
@juergen_hubert wild-- I realized I don't actually know how to search for books. I can search scholar.google.com for Venice and Alpine trade routes of the Renaissance, which leads to some interesting works, but that's not books usually.
Given Germany didn't exist then, is there another target you could use? I found some stuff on the Holy Roman Empire and Venice trade, which I think was a lot of Germany at that time?
