@atomicpoet @dacig Same model, yes. But you don't have to use OpenAI's paid online service. The model is available on their GitHub under an MIT License: https://github.com/openai/whisper/tree/main. I use an app called MacWhisper that gives me a GUI and helps with model management, and gives easy access to other similar open-source & local audio-to-text models as well. https://goodsnooze.gumroad.com/l/macwhisper

I use Whisper for example to create video subtitles. It's better than older text transcription tools as it can identify speakers, recognize song titles and artists, and makes note of sound fx. This all makes for a richer closed captioning.
