Did you change the border width? As far as I know, there's no border by default.

KDE by default has the same problem. You need to change the settings to add real window borders.

And even that is not ideal. Ideal would be Windows 3 or IRIX, where windows are rectangular, thickly bordered, and the resize regions are clearly delineated.

I wonder how many of those gadgets have other uses besides the one their vendors sold them for.

I'm reminded of the CueCat. Its intended application was rather questionable, but it was repurposed as a general-purpose barcode scanner by enterprising programmers, and *that* was useful.
