Given that there's a lot of retro looking pixel art games being released these days, and I'm an older gamer from the 80's onwards and don't recognise it... but it's in the streets of rage style.... I'm going with modern.

Ulrik Nyman ⬡ Darkside Story is actually a DOS game released in 1995. The reason it stylistically looks different is because it was developed in South Korea, and never got a release outside South Korea. Still, it’s playable with DOSBox.

Anomnomnomaly BSC SSC Actually, Darkside Story was released in 1995. The reason you don’t recognize it is because it’s a DOS game developed by South Koreans, and only released in South Korea—never got a Western release.
Console games never took off in South Korea, so South Koreans often developed games for DOS that looked like console games.
