That a writer's first published book can be a runaway bestseller that will make them rich.

That pretty much never happens in this field. While it _is_ possible to make a living from writing, it takes years and years of constant effort.

And if someone's first book _is_ a bestseller, it's worth looking at who precisely is pushing the book.
