Are most people okay?
Asking cuz I was lamenting about the state of the world to a friend and he said, "remember that most people are regular, normal people who are not racist". I think if most people were good, then these absolute dogshit people would not be in power. Maybe not all, but many people, a significant chunk of the population is fucking terrible. Or maybe I am a misanthrope

@madhu_shrieks most people that seem terrible, upon investigation turn out to be merely ignorant. Not that it matters a lot for the end results of their actions of course. But in most cases it's theoretically curable ( in my limited experience). That gives me a sliver of hope.

I disagree with that friend insofar that I think that "not being racist" isn't a binary state of being, it's a _process_ - one that has to be actively and consciously worked on.
Otherwise, we carry our subconscious assumptions with us.
