@stux I don't think deleting the accounts does anything except set "deleted" to "true".
I had a Facebook account in 2005 - for a week. I deleted it.
Ten years later I had to create another to test a Facebook extension. FB resurrected my original account. All my posts were still there.

I had a Facebook account in 2005 - for a week. I deleted it.
Ten years later I had to create another to test a Facebook extension. FB resurrected my original account. All my posts were still there.
Yeah, that's pretty typical. We usually call it a soft-delete. We don't always reveal to the user it's just a flag on an account.
It's pretty lousy.

My elderly mother (89) was not happy i deleted WA, as i am the only one in the family to do so. She has to use Signal just for me. At least she does. -

@stux I deleted mine a few months ago. Unfortunately, I am stuck with WhatsApp for another year while my son is at school+clubs. After that, WhatsApp will be gone.

@stux Itโs a very weird bubble these people live in, making them so out of touch with whatโs going on anywhere that it takes probably multiple teams dozens of meetings to present THIS to the world.

This is why I prefer to misdirect the algorithm by following and liking things I'm not actually interested in.

Once upon a happier time it was (theoretically) possible to delete tweets off Twatter. Odd (not) how this is nigh on impossible now. -
