Oh, Spectrum. Why the bullshit?

Back in September, my home internet connection went to shit. The connection would randomly die for about 30 seconds, every 10 minutes or so. I spent about a week ruling out my equipment. Upgraded stuff, streamlined the firewall, watched for weird internal anomalies, but could NOT find anything wrong. So I call Spectrum, and they send a tech out, who tests the line and says nothing is wrong.

So I keep looking at my equipment.

One day I jump on my town's subreddit, and find lots of people complaining of the exact same problem. All of them getting a visit from a tech saying nothing is wrong on Spectrum's end. Then, one day, the problem mysteriously clears up for everyone, all at once.

I still occasionally see it. Two Sundays ago it was happening about every half-hour, for about half the day, but fine since.

Spectrum was obviously lying to its customers about the problem.

I would still really like to know WTF.

@Tim_Eagon Coax. The only fiber here is downtown. TDS has begun laying fiber all over the place, so hopefully soon.
