Anyone who says 8-bit RPGs are better than modern RPGs is absolutely high on nostalgia fumes.

Listen, the best 8-bit RPG I’ve ever played is Phantasy Star for the SEGA Master System. It was truly revolutionary. You could travel to three planets, and there were 3D dungeons.

But damn, the stories in modern RPGs are more rich. The mechanics are more streamlined. And simple quality of life improvements like auto-saves make a world of difference.
