I doubled what the module threw at them, and they mowed it all down. I did finally get them to move on, in a lull when Lone Star was sending in more equipment, but it was very much Not Running.
I still game with that group. Sometimes, when a GM plan goes south, we say, "When the PCs run..." and laugh our asses off.

I have figured out that they will move on, so long as they have already won fight, but they pretty much won't leave the field until then.

@cwdolunt
Right? This is why I don't do modules any longer. -

@SJohnRoss
The GM I've gamed with most has often said that he could plan for 12 different things the group would do, and on game night we'd pick number 13. Luckily, the lesson he taught me was plan but be flexible. I figured out that to be flexible, you need to know what the adversaries are thinking, not what they're going to do. And have irons in the fire.

@DejahEntendu Descent from Avernus from 2019 starts by having an unpleasant character give them a job. If they refuse, his goons beat them up until they agree. If they beat up the goons, he sends more until they agree. Top game writing for the biggest RPG company.

@jaranta
They're still writing things like that. We got railroaded into taking a job in the current one. Dunno which module it is tho.
