I've been playing a bit of Divinity: Original Sin, I figure since Larian is going back to the series now that BG3 is in the can I should probably familiarize myself with it.

Initial impressions: Yeah that sure is a western-made RPG from 2014. Baldyr's Gate and Dragon Age in the fingerprints pretty strong. The elemental reaction system is a bit less refined here than it was in BG3 (not surprising) but it's already showing promise.
The writing so far has been kind of disappointing. A society of rogue mages using a kind of magic that corrupts you, huh? And an oppositional organization that hunts them down? Where have I heard this one before. Eh, maybe it'll get better.

Other thoughts:
*Wow that voice acting is *awful*, I can't believe we used to live like this

*"Quicksave, then reload once you know what the next fight expects of you" seems to be a recurring Larian thing.
*Roleplaying BOTH main characters at once is surprisingly challenging.

@CactuarJoe Divinity II was very good and that's what most people have fondness for. I never played the first; couldn't get into it.
