    I'm watching a show that randomly reminded me of a job I had overseas that involved simultaneous interpretation.

    ...where, for reasons that had nothing to do with me, someone in my office put me on the spot to interpret in a high stakes situation with zero prep.

    I nailed it, as it happens. But I was shaking so hard I literally almost fell out of my heels (work dress code) — not from fear but from the adrenaline spike.

        @sindarina That was from a great time in my life when I was putting a lot of miles on the "International" part of International Woman of Mystery.

        I had a closet full of suits and little black dresses and if you were lucky you could glimpse me in dark corners at various embassy parties.

        I truly miss those days. (And that wardrobe!)
