i hate how stuff aimed at "emerging artists" or musicians or whatever almost always has an age cutoff like 25 or 30.

anybody can become an artist at any time.

so many resources for "youth" but if you fuck up and get too old, you get nothing

one that i really hate is "Young Canada Works" which is funding for different arts and nonprofit orgs to hire a student for the summer. it has BOTH an age cutoff and a requirement that the person be going back to school in the fall.
and many orgs don't get any other funding. and the competition is steep

when i went to art school there were so many people doing it later in life, and working hard. but they wouldn't have been eligible for the same things their peers were.
and also i just want to see more support for work by people with different and more life experience.
and and the number of neurodivergent queer people i know who were late bloomers, took a long time to figure out what they wanted, nothing for them

and things like "30 under 30" are just nepotism showcases

and yes "anyone can become an artist at any time" is a threat or call to action, depending on who is reading
