I need beer friends. I actually like brewing beer way more than drinking it, so I like to give most of it away. But I need my bottles back, and I don’t know that many people that drink beer AND return bottles.

Com’on people, mediocre home brew for the low price of telling me how it tastes and returning the bottles.

@fujiwara@sakurajima.moe that would be great, but I’ve intuited that you’re pretty far from me :akko_weary:

I’d even take requests, I just want more practice and an audience to motivate me. …And maybe someone to occasionally fall on a grenade when its a poor run. They can’t all be winners.

@NullNowhere @fujiwara I haven’t intuied your location (I’m not too difficult to pin down) but I’m something as unusual as a viking that don’t drink:)

I really should try mead at some point. Which seems pretty easy to make.

@yon@sakurajima.moe Mead is something I occasionally make. It’s the easiest alcohol there is. Heat water and honey, put it In a sanitized fermenter, rack it as needed and when you’re satisfied you’re done.

@yon@sakurajima.moe well, and add yeast. That goes without saying.

@NullNowhere Yet I, as an actual viking (or direct descendant and born and raised) has never had it. Which is kinda odd 🙂

There’s this mead guy on YouTube (shorts) making all sorts of crazy ones. Ever seen that guy? Some even sound good, BUT I have this intent dislike for wine (only ones I can tolerate a bit are expensive red ones, the rest taste like fermented garbage, including real actual champagne etc). So I don’t know what I’d think 🙂

@yon@sakurajima.moe as a fun note, the Vikings drank as much beer as anything else.

On wine, I’ll tolerate some dry whites but that’s about it. I enjoy mead a lot more but it needs its time. I am not aware of anyone doing mead on YouTube.

Something else I’d want to make is a Braggot - a brew is a cross of mead and beer

@NullNowhere Knowing what kind of sponges my countrymen are I’m pretty sure they drank anything 🙂 Brännvin later on has some interesting history as well.

Is that like a mead with hops, or more complicated?

@yon@sakurajima.moe it’s perhaps better to think of it as a beer with a strong honey component (30-40% honey). It uses grains, hops, honey, and often herbs.

Thanks for mentioning Brännvin since I haven’t heard of it. There tends to be a whole world of hyper-local liquors out there that don’t make it to export. I want to make it and a bunch of others someday.
