FWIW, I read yesterday that a former Bush official said the flagpole may prevent the helicopter from landing on the South lawn.
So if the helicopter lands elsewhere, the president would have the added risk (& effort) of walking a greater distance—probably solved by firing up the gas-guzzling limo.In any other (competent) administration I’d say that of course the helicopter landing site was considered, but …
