Ugh. Had to smack down someone who claimed Thailand was basically Patriarchy Incarnate when:
1. Thailand has had an elected female prime minister before most western nations had an equivalent.
2. Thailand vastly exceeds the world average in female STEM researchers (and grant awardees!) at 45-50%.
3. Thailand also vastly exceeds the world average in female corporate leadership at 40-45%.I mean it's no feminist paradise, but it's reductive and gross to claim Thai men think women are property!

@juergen_hubert And it's a self-propagating one, no doubt, where women are treated so badly they would go anywhere not to have to do IT in Germany, right?

I am not a woman, so I am probably not the best person to ask. But the problem likely starts in school, where girls are subtly (or not so subtly) steered away from IT fields, and the bias propagates from there.
