@Doomed_Daniel @jef @henry That might be a viable alternative for AI bros as well.

@flq @Doomed_Daniel @phf @jef @henry Soylent Green is, well, you know...
You know what I really hate? Gangs of horses hanging out at the cafe all day, hogging all the tables and pooping all over the floor, because they have nowhere better to be.

@henry The fastest children will be raced for sport, the rest sold to the glue factory. Freedom!

@henry
(Sorry for the following rant)
EEESH , yeah I can tell he didn’t go to school, particularly history, or just real life experience on a farm
Do ya really wanna know where all the horses went? Lots of ‘em were sent to slaughter houses & are still being sent to slaughter houses to this day.
They’re not “free” from work , people still have ‘em to ride, yet they send them to auction & they end up in a meat factory. So… sorry. You don’t know anything about what you’re talking about -

@henry This isn't as much true. Horses keep being breed by humans, used in races and steaks. The hard lesson is that humans don't return anything to nature, not even themselves.
The clear example is industrial revolution, after which humans haven't been freed from work, but just advanced to new forms of slavery.
Note that I'm truly convinced about the good from technological advances: I just see that humans, on average, can't change for good. The solution is beyond my humble comments. -

@flq @phf @jef @henry
Only indirectly.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eating_your_own_dog_food?useskin=vector#Origin_of_the_term
says it originates in commercials where dog food producers claim that they feed it to their own dogs.Indirectly, because canned dog food was invented for disposing of "excess horses" (Wikipedia at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dog_food?useskin=vector#History
says "no longer needed for the war [WW1]", but I'm pretty sure I read elsewhere that cars replacing carriages was also a big factor) -

@henry There is some appeal to the thought that if AI can really do all the nasty work, we can all go do fun stuff. But apparently capitalism doesn't work that way...
