How do I know most people have no taste?

Because they blindly worship the same tired “canon”—the same books, movies, and games parroted over and over like gospel. Everyone’s circlejerking over the exact same overrated crap.

And how did that crap become “essential”? Money and marketing. Rich assholes pay off gatekeepers who shove their junk down everyone’s throat. Then the gatekeepers stamp it “important,” and the herd just swallows it whole, too lazy or scared to think for themselves.

If you’re one of the few who actually bother to hunt for something real, good luck. Nobody gives a damn. They’ll viciously defend their precious “canon” and kick outsider art to the curb.

@atomicpoet This is one reason I write and selfpub. If I can't find the weird shit anywhere -- and the mainstream definitely does NOT take the risk of publishing the weird shit -- then I gotta write the stuff I wanna read.
