Reading a thread of comments on a poll about where people stand on covid mitigations and seeing someone proclaim "I know when I have covid/flu" so they know not to see people if they have symptoms

My good man, a large quantity of covid infections are asymptomatic (but can still spread) with figures quoted at 25%, 45% even up to 60% of infections. I know this is inconvenient but it is the reality of the situation

"people who are still concerned about covid are so unreasonable, they just want us all to go into lockdown again!"

literally nobody is asking for that. what people are asking for is stuff like universal masking in unavoidable situations like healthcare settings and investment in indoor air filtration/clean air infrastructure

idk about you but given hospital acquired covid infections are measurably worse i don't want to get sick, have to go to hospital, and then die or become permanently debilitated from a covid infection a nurse or a guest gave me because they couldn't be fucked masking. and i don't want that for anyone else either, but it keeps happening

if that makes me soooooo unreasonable then uhh i guess i'm fucking unreasonable

i guess i'm also very unreasonable in wanting clean air in schools. because schools are hotbeds of viral activity and in most countries completely unavoidable, and i thought we cared about kids. so maybe we should do something so they don't get sick all the time, and so their parents don't get sick from them all the time

and we know air filters work and we know uv-c above drop-ceilings work. hell, even fucking ceiling mounted fans work! but instead we're not doing anything

          wow, so unreasonable

even if you don't give a shit about covid you should want clean air in schools (and other public buildings but lets start by aiming low 🙄) because guess what, getting sick more often is a huge economic hit. it literally costs the economy exponentially more money to *not* filter the air than to do it

but maybe that pragmatic argument is too reasonable coming from an unreasonable person like myself who is still concerned about covid
