@redsad @OctaviaConAmore What didn’t click for me until way later was that “gifted and talented” fell under the broader category “special education”

@redsad apparently I traded the ADHD for depression and undiagnosed autism.
Still no idea what I was actually supposed to gain from that program.

@redsad@ohai.social a lot better, thankfully. I smoke a lot of weed and it helps with ADHD and anxiety. perfectionism I've learned to replace with never ending disciplines. for example, I don't really like beating games, I just like the ones you can't beat like Minecraft and chess (you just keep improving). and music is going well, I'm not a perfectionist, I turned procrastination into endless proliferation, so I still struggle to work on songs for more than one session; I'm learning to not do that :3

@redsad@ohai.social it gets a LOT better by 25. like, a LOT better. also, quitting big tech helps, and strengthening your focus (for me, by reading a lot and doing math) esp in your early 20s helps.

Hey. Not only do my youngest child make that program, but now her oldest child has made it. Two children, 4 grandchildren, not one neuro-normative in the crowd.
But everyone gets student of the month, and 1st in the article contests, and like that.
It's just that they are light on the 401K paths. -

@redsad Yeah, in the 80's but geez. Ow.

@NicolaElle @mxsparks @redsad Yeah, I became the oldest daughter, too.

@redsad Hmm. No ADHD, but anxiety, depression, and perfectionism for sure. But Wellbutrin is helping the procrastination for writing, at least.
Am the oldest daughter (but have an older brother so actually a middle child) and ... my spiritual journey is stalled somewhere.
Though I think technically my GT program was in the 80s, so maybe that's the difference.
