Whenever I look at OSR titles I think "that is so whimsical and imaginative that I don't think that I could ever get a handle on the setting. It feels like half a dozen Funhouse dungeons in a trenchcoat pretending to be a world"
Conversely, when I look at D&D's direct competitors I often find myself thinking "Have you ever read a book that didn't have the words Dungeons & Dragons on the cover?"

I also spotted that there's a licensed Fifth Season rpg. Fab for those who enjoy immersing themselves in the work of an author who helped bully to a transwoman into de-transitioning.

I don't think I will ever not be incredibly angry about what the good burghers of SFF-land did to Isabel Fall.

@Taskerland I gotta admit that the Nible rpg recently mentioned by @thomas in the newsletter gave me an itch to play something 5E-like again for the first in a long time. It reminds me of a much older similar game called Into The Unknown, which had more of an OSR twist. Just shows that as long as there are people playing D&D, there will be people trying to reinvent it.

@Taskerland Personally I think I've grown too attached to my weird zines and cozy tomes to ever return to anything resembling D&D full-time.

@dregntael My tolerance for and enjoyment of crunch is minimal nowadays. I did try 5e and it did very little for me.
That Nimble thing is interesting as it's just a whole different RPG. Weird that it is being sold as a rejoinder to 5e.
