    I try not to self-insert. Self-insertion is the persistent vice of bad fanfic (hint: there is good fanfic too, it doesn't fall for the self-insert nonsense).

        @juergen_hubert @cstross That puts me in mind of Legend in which the protagonist (protrayed by Richard Dean Anderson) poses for the cover photos of his dime novels and gets mistaken for the hero of his books.
