I played some Black Ops 7 when it released since it was a GamePass Day One release but it seems like every time I launch the Xbox app, it won’t let me simply update what I have installed. It tries to force a 350+ GB download or some other outrageously dumb number. If I really wanted to play it, I’d either have to clear that much space or uninstall and reinstall, where it actually lets me select exactly what I want to install.

That’s a shame. I loved the first game and played the native Linux version. I’ll purchase this new sequel if, and when, it offers a native Linux version. I wish for more games to offer native Linux support.

I gave a try to KF2 on PS4 but was ultimately bummed out by the fact of playing with a controller. I’ve been waiting to try it again on PC. Wonder if for a casual like me that will play it mostly solo will KF3 do it or am I better sticking to the previous game.

A future requirement means the cost of these changes, if required at the end of life, should be factored into the company’s plans for the game already. Not a retroactive cost/burden the company didn’t plan for and may not have the financial resources to spend for already end of life products. Unless the game was designed to be offline or use alternative server systems, it still requires development time to implement. And as well all know, bugs are a thing, what sort of requirement for support would be required for implementing those changes? Can they just slap something together with AI coding and say that’s what we get? They made the change and they’re done with it?

MS could be offering marketing fund deals, I’m not privy to such business decisions. But even if we assume they don’t, these manufacturers are in a clear disadvantage compared to Valve. They won’t be able to compete on price with the deck even if they go with linux. Naturally they should choose linux IMO, but they not neccessarily have the same interests as me.
