Cybertruck Sales Are So Bad That We Gasped
In the entire first quarter of 2025, Tesla has managed to sell just 7,100 Cybertrucks in the US, according to data from S&P Global Mobility.

I didn’t gasp. I cheered.

13,000 is also a dismal quarterly number for a vehicle.
Which explains a lot about the state of our planet.

Even funnier is when you look up how long a set of tires lasts on a cybertruck.

Tesla has managed to sell just 7,100 Cybertrucks in the US, according to registration data from S&P Global Mobility cited by the Wall Street Journal. It’s an astounding and rapid plummet, when in the fourth quarter of 2024, Tesla sold close to double that amount, with roughly 13,000 Cybertrucks.
Dropping by half isn’t really a level I’d gasp at. From that click bait title I expected 80-90%
Ita a nearly 50% drop though. Pretty bad. Lets see if its a trend though

Like when they are burning?

Yeah car sales always drop a lot after the first model year. The people that were hotly anticipating it got it and everyone else continues as normal. It doesn’t help that the right thinks EVs are woke and the left thinks Tesla is a right wing company now. So that leaves…idk politically apathetic rich people?

a vehicle that was supposed to be the culmination of Elon Musk’s genius.
I’d argue that it is the culmination of Elon Musk’s genius.
12yo genius.

Between them being pieces of shit, the stigma associated with them, and Elon alienating the target demographic, I’m surprised any are getting sold at all.

Or even just generally. I think it’s only 7,000 miles (11,250 km), and they’re about USD$500 each.

Yeah, I was kidding because of the fires, but you are correct. Teslas, when driven hard, eat through tires. All that torque needs grip, and so the tires are a grippy compound which typically equates to higher wear. A few friends bought them (before Elon showed his true colours), when they first got them and did the acceleration run with each eager passenger the tires were bald in no time.
